The scrappage scheme coming to an end is believed to be a key reason for the recent change in prices says Adrian Rushmore of Glass's. Rises in list prices in 2010 are causing vehicles to appear less appealing to business users who are charged higher tax rates. "Manufacturers are planning to address this by either dropping prices on selected ranges or by launching new entry-level models that will establish a new, lower price point for the range" says Rushmore
Sales should sway further towards business and fleet buyers in 2010 as the scrappage scheme comes to an end and fleet directors begin to replace older fleets after delaying the upgrade in 2009.
This rise in fleet sales could be great news for Vauxhall who stand in good stead having just won the UK Fleet manufacturer of the year award (2010 Fleet News Awards). "We're absolutely delighted to receive this recognition from our customers, especially in such testing times for the industry" said Maurice Howkins, Vauxhalls Fleet Sales Director.
"We strive to provide our customers not only with a great choice of vehicles, including our award winning ecoFLEX range, but also with the best support network in the industry from our fleet sales and aftersales teams and our retailers."
The Vauxhall line including the Corsa, Astra, Insignia and ecoFLEX range finished in front of other manufacturers to grab the top award.
In summary, it looks like there is some promise for the UK car market in 2010 both for consumers, retailers and manufacturers alike.
